Thomas Smith (c.1804-1886) lived in Shrewsbury Road by the mid-1840s. His works address, where he was a razor manufacturer, was Suffolk Works (presumably renting space from the main tenants, Thomas Turner & Co). By the 1860s, he was a razor maker and hafter at his home address: St Mary’s Road. He died there on 17 March 1886, aged 82, and his burial (unconsecrated) was in the General Cemetery).
