Ryalls, Turner & Company Ltd
This firm began as Bird & Co (Sheffield) 1914 Ltd, which was launched by issuing £2,500 debentures (repayable by 1920). It then became Turner, Ryals & Co in February 1917. The owner was John Ryalls, a former partner in John Ryalls & Sons. He lived in Raven Road, Nether Edge. The ‘Turner’ in ‘Turner, Ryalls’ was apparently spurious, which invited an inevitable complaint from Thomas Turner & Co. It was agreed that the name should be changed to Ryalls, ....
