Joseph Quixall and James Hawley went into partnership as cutlers and in 1803 registered a silver mark (J.Q & Co’) as plate workers at Pond Street. Quixall’s early life is unknown and his name does not appear in the apprenticeship records of the Company of Cutlers. James Hawley is equally obscure, but he may have been the son of James, who purchased his Freedom in 1800. They dissolved their partnership in 1803.
