Arthur Price celebrated its centenary as almost the last prominent English cutlery firm. It was formed in 1902 in Birmingham by Arthur Price (1865-1936), who was from a local metal working family (Jones, 1981). Capitalized at about £1,000, the firm had about 20 workers, making spoons and forks (flatware). It concentrated on high-grade nickel-silver pieces (especially for South America and Cuba) and silver pieces on 12 per cent nickel-silver (for Russia).
