The name Perigo was rare in Sheffield in the nineteenth century. It is believed to have been the name of French ironworkers, who settled in the area in the 1570s. John Perigo was first in partnership as a cutlery manufacturer with Frank William Marriot (formerly of Globe Works of Walters), but this was dissolved in 1867.
