According to Leader (1905-6), Ebenezer Parker was a descendant of William Parker, who was Master Cutler in 1761. William, in turn, had links with Thomas and Ebenezer Parker, who by the 1770s were cutlers and merchants. Thomas and Ebenezer incurred the displeasure of the Company of Cutlers by manufacturing cast iron forks, which – as they were not made of steel – were classed as ‘deceitful wares’.
