George Newbould was born in Sheffield on 13 June 1818, the son of William, a cutler, and his wife, Frances. He was first associated with Newbould Bros. In 1858, George Newbould advertised in a Birmingham directory from Dixon Works in Arundel Street, as a manufacturer of secure horn handle table cutlery and ‘all kinds of cutlery for home and export’.
