Sheffield As It Is (1852) had an advertisement for this firm as a surgical instrument maker at Hall Carr Works. The Sheffield directory (1852) listed it in Savile Street, with James Theaker and Edward William Levick as partners. Theaker had operated the London Coffee House – for many years the only one in Sheffield – but died on 22 February 1854, aged 54.
