Born in Sheffield in 1871, Charles Swift Levick was the son of George Levick, a steel traveller, and his wife, Anne. At the start of the 1890s, Charles partnered Joseph Westby in Pinfold Street/Trippet Lane. In 1892, they registered a patent for an improved champagne knife and cartridge extractor.
