This electro-plater and gilder was started in Eyre Street in 1900 by John William Larder (1867-1928) and Vernon Burgess (1874-1932). Larder was born at Donnington, Lincolnshire; Burgess at Stone, Staffordshire. Larder had worked as a brewer’s drayman in Doncaster. The company’s address was variously Eyre Street, Matilda Street, and Mary Street. The partners were also involved in Sheffield Metal Co. J. W.
