The brothers were Robert Lowe (1907-1970) and George Reginald Lowe (1913-1970). They were born in Sheffield, the sons of John William Lowe (an engineers’ fitter) and his wife, Ada. In the Census (1939), Robert was an edge tool handler; George was a table knife cutler.
Lowe Bros, table knife manufacturers, Hermitage Street, appeared in a Sheffield directory in 1951. The business was dissolved two years later, when Robert decided to trade alone. However, by 1957 Lowe Bros had disappeared from the directory.
