Mary Kirkby was listed in directories as a pen and pocket cutler. Presumably, her husband had died, but so far his identity has not been traced. Mary traded at Church Street in 1774, using the mark ‘EDEN’. Six years later, she registered a silver mark (‘M.K’) at Brinsworth Orchard. Her last appearance in a directory was at the same address in 1787. The register of St Paul’s church recorded the burial of Mary Kirkby (‘widow’) on 25 July 1802. ....
