According to Inkerman’s website, Eales was founded in 1855 by Samuel Inkerman Eales. However, the name does not appear in directories until after the Second World War and the founder and his sons have been difficult to locate in the Census. Three generations with the same name – Samuel Inkerman Eales – took the firm up to 3 February 1982, when the last Samuel died. Thomas Eales then became manager. The firm sold silverware and table cutlery from Inkerman Works, Douglas Road. ....
