The records of the Company of Cutlers suggest that Alexander Hunt was the son of George (a scissors maker) and was apprenticed to cutler George Wasnidge. He was granted his Freedom in 1791. Alexander was listed as pen knife manufacturer in Broad Lane (1815, 1822). In 1822, a silver mark was registered under Alexander’s name in Bailey Lane. In the 1825 directory, Hunt’s address was Bridge Street and Broad Lane, where he was described as a manufacturer of pen, pocket, desk, sportsman&rsqu....
