This enterprise began in about 1920 as Fleming, Son & Davies at Orient Works, Cambridge Street. The partners were William Henry Fleming (1862-1935) and his son, James Lionel Fleming (1889-1942); and Arthur Davies (who was apparently listed in the directory in 1919 as a cutlery manager, residing in Penrhyn Road). W. H. Fleming had previously been a surgical instrument maker. The firm specialised in stainless and electro-plate table cutlery and canteens, using the trade name ‘EFFANESS’. ....
