The Fischer brothers, Fritz (born c.1853) and Walther, were rare birds – German cutlery manufacturers in Sheffield. They apparently arrived in about 1878 in their mid-20s and within two years had a trade mark (two men in a boat) and a works address: West Street and Charlotte Street. They were merchants and manufacturers of cutlery, scissors, and shears, and had a factory in Solingen, in Rhenish Prussia. Scissors were their specialty.
