William Henry Farr (1851-1927) was the son of spring-knife maker Joseph Farr and his wife, Ann. William Henry was their first son and was brought up in Brightmore Street. He followed his father into the cutlery trade and by the 1880s was listed as a spring knife manufacturer at Portland Works, West Street. He advertised in the Foreign Buyers’ Catalogue (1895).
