This firm’s originator was Joseph Ash (1849-1944?), who followed his father’s trade as a silver polisher and was married to Sarah Elizabeth. By 1891, he was working on his own account at Trafalgar Wheel, Trafalgar Street. He brought his son, Joseph (1874-1961?), into the business, which by 1901 was listed as Ash & Son, nickel silver platers, Trafalgar Street.
