Charles Heald (1863-1949) was born in Sheffield, the son of Henry (a razor scale presser), and Elizabeth. Henry died in 1869. By 1901, Charles was a cutlery manufacturer at Bridge Street Works, where Henry Platts had operated. Heald acquired Platt’s mark (‘CLIMAX’) and his foundation date (1853).
