John Harrison (1821-1887) was a steel fork maker, who was born in Blackburn, Kimberworth, near Rotherham. In the Census (1841), he was living in Blackburn, with his parents (William, a fork maker, and Maria). Next door was another family of fork makers – named Sayles – whose daughter, Elizabeth, became John Harrison’s wife.
