Charles Hall
Born in London in about 1812, Charles Hall was enumerated in the Census (1861) as a 48-year-old cutlery manufacturer, who resided in William Street. When he arrived in Sheffield is unknown: a manufacturer of that name was listed after 1837 as a cutler and surgical instrument maker in Fargate/New Church Street. Certainly, by the 1860s, Charles Hall was a manufacturer in Exchange Gateway, Fargate. In 1868, he was listed as a maker of fine spring cutlery, putty knives, and bread knives. However, he died ....
