Thomas Staniforth (c.1846-1899) manufactured (or marketed) palette, and bread and butter knives in Eldon Street. The first listing was in the 1871 directory, which stated that the enterprise was late Harrison & Staniforth – presumably a reference to Thomas Harrison, to whom Thomas Staniforth had probably been apprenticed. In 1871, Staniforth employed two men and two boys. He appears to have operated the Eldon Street business until about 1892, when it merged with Wilson & Frith. Stanifort....
