John Gillott
John Gillott was a table knife manufacturer, who was listed in Broad Lane between 1828 and 1841. Directories show that he made (or factored) table and bread knives, scissors, spoons and forks; and was also a shopkeeper. His son, John, worked as a warehouseman – presumably in the family firm. In the 1840s, John Gillott moved to 12 Coalpit Lane. He died there on 13 January 1848, aged 70, and was buried in St Paul’s churchyard.
