This cutlery manufacturer was well known for its ‘FRIAR’ knives, which were marketed between the 1950s and 1970s. The firm can be traced to the Sanders family, which came from Birmingham. James Sanders (c.1818-1885) was born at Perry Barr, Staffordshire, and was originally a button maker. In 1839, he married Martha née Wood at Harborne.
