This was established by Augustus Bright (c. 1831-1880), who was the son of Selim Bright. By the 1860s, Augustus was a merchant and cutlery ‘manufacturer’ in Vicar Lane. He appears, like his father, to have focused on South America, especially Brazil (with his ‘AMIGO’ trade mark). He became Brazilian vice-consul in Sheffield. He was also a captain in the Hallamshire Rifle Corps. Augustus married Kate Pitt (d. 1906), the daughter of the manager of the Theatre Royal in Sheffield. ....
