Richard Cowlishaw (c.1789-1878) was born in Collingham, Nottinghamshire. He was probably the ‘clerk’ listed in 1822 in South Street. In the late 1820s, he apparently partnered Robert Penistone (or Pennistone) as a fine scissors manufacturer. However, Penistone & Cowlishaw ended in 1829 (Penistone was bankrupt in 1835).
