John Sanderson was a fork grinder, who was born in Sheffield in about 1817. By 1841, he was living in Spring Street with his wife, Maria. Later he combined running a beer house, with fork grinding. After Maria died, he remarried and by 1871 was living in Aberdeen Street. He employed one man in the production of steel forks, fish eaters, scoops, etc., for electro and close plating.
