Charles Parkin
Charles Parkin was an ironmonger and scissors smith, who was born in Sheffield and spent most of his career in Broad Lane, at the corner of Newcastle Street. He was listed in directories by 1860. Parkin’s trade card in Sheffield Archives illustrates tailor’s shears and stated that he manufactured all kinds of steel scissors. His wife, Ann, died in 1887 (aged 73); his son, John, who was also a scissors smith, died in 1894 (49); and Charles died at Bromley Street on 23 June 1897, aged 81.&nb....
