Robert Owen / Denison Owen
Robert Owen was born in Sheffield in about 1829. In 1850, he married at the parish church, Rotherham, Sarah Ann Denison (1829-1897). In 1851, Robert was living with his wife and in-laws in Hoyle Street. Sarah’s father was a saw maker, but Robert was a metal smith. He apparently launched his business in electro-plate and Britannia metal goods in Allen Street in 1876 (when he advertised in the directory). He was joined briefly by John Shirtcliffe Jun.
