Charles Edward Nixon (1851-1920) was born at Great Ponton, Lincolnshire, and by 1861 was living in Grantham with his widowed mother, Ruth. He became a draper’s assistant in Newark, but by 1880 he was operating St Wolfran’s Works, Rockingham Street. He registered silver marks in 1880 and 1881.
