Ann Garner (born at Hornby, Yorkshire) was enumerated in the Census (1851) as a widow and surgical bandage maker in Norfolk Street. By 1856, she was apparently the wife of William Garner Snowden (born in Newcastle c.1829), who advertised as a surgical instrument maker in Norfolk Street (‘ladies waited upon by Mrs Snowden’). He became bankrupt in 1868, when he had an office in Deansgate, Manchester. William and Ann apparently separated and the former may have remarried in Dublin. Ann contin....
