Rhodes Brothers
The ‘brothers’ were Jehoiada (1802-1864), Thomas (1806-1869), and John Sanderson (1812-1883), who were sons of Thomas Rhodes and his wife, Ellen. They were baptised at Howard Street Independent Chapel. They specialised in silverware and Britannia metal goods: Jehoiada in Bright Street; and Thomas and John at 13 Howard Street. John employed six men in 1851 and was also a grocer. In 1855, the trio formed Rhodes Bros and registered a silver mark ‘R B’ from 12 Mulberry Street....
