In 1833, Joseph Burgin (c.1798-1851) was listed as a scissors manufacturer, living in West Street. By 1839, he had formed Burgin & Broadhead with John Broadhead (see Broadhead, Hall) in West Street. This ended in 1842. A subsequent partnership at the same address with Charles Ward ceased in 1849.
