Ernest Bierton & Son
Ernest Bierton (1899-1971) was the son of John Bierton. The latter was a publican at Falcon and City Arms, where he was assisted by his wife, Annie Elizabeth. They were well-known and colourful characters. Annie was killed in a tramcar accident in the Moor on 1 November 1913; John collapsed and died from ‘rupture of the aorta’ in Eyre Street the day after the funeral at Burngreave (Sheffield Evening Telegraph, 6 November 1913).
