Charles (1823-1886) was born in Sheffield, the son of Ebenezer Wild (1795-1871) and his wife, Harriet. Ebenezer was from Rotherham, but by 1828 was a pen knife manufacturer, back of Radford Street. He later partnered his brother, Benjamin (1789-1840), a pearl scale cutter, in Scotland Street, until 1837. Benjamin relinquished business in 1839 and he died on 13 April 1840, aged 50.
