John Mosley
A spring knife cutler, John Mosley was born in Sheffield in about 1792. By 1851, he lived in Milton Street, with his wife, Mary, and four sons and a daughter. He was not a manufacturer, but worked for Joseph Rodgers & Sons. He died on 8 April 1861, aged 69, and was buried in the General Cemetery. His obituary in The Sheffield Independent, 13 April 1861, noted that he had made pen knives at Joseph Rodgers for 32 years: ‘He possessed much ingenuity, combined with great skill as a workman, and ....
