A spring knife cutler, John Mosley was born in Sheffield in about 1792. By 1851, he lived in Milton Street, with his wife, Mary, and four sons and a daughter. He was not a manufacturer, but worked for Joseph Rodgers & Sons. He died on 8 April 1861, aged 69, and was buried in the General Cemetery.
