This cutler was born in Sheffield in about 1820. In the Census (1851), he was enumerated in Mitchell Street as a cutlery manufacturer, employing four men and a boy. Living with Joseph and his wife Mary was an apprentice, William Unwin. Apparently, Joseph worked at Wingfield, Rowbotham. Joseph Foulstone appeared in the local directory in 1856 as a spring knife manufacturer in Siddall Street.
