Eggintons did not appear in Sheffield directories until 1821, when William Egginton was listed as a brass turner at Millsands. His identity is uncertain, though the family can be traced as cutlers to the early seventeenth century. In 1822, William’s name disappeared, to be replaced by James Egginton, a brass turner and ferrule maker at Meadow Street.
