John Dodworth
John Dodworth (1788-1854) was apparently the son of Matthew and Leah Whittles. He was baptised at Upper Chapel, Norfolk Street. He partnered Samuel Hague as a pen and pocket knife manufacturer, but this was dissolved in 1836. Between 1839 and 1854, he was listed as a spring knife cutler in Chester Street. In 1851, he employed three men and a boy. His wife was Lydia. One son, John (1815-1891, made blades, springs, and scales in Rockingham Street / Devonshire Street. His workforce was ....
