George Dobson & Sons
George Dobson, a spring knife manufacturer, was apparently born on 10 October 1824, the son of Andrew Dobson (a cutler) and his wife, Jemima. George Dobson was listed in 1856 in Bath Street. In 1861, he was living in Solly Street with his wife, Cassandra. Their two sons were Andrew (1856-1909) and George (1858-1912). By 1876, George Dobson & Sons was listed at Cutts Works, Division Street; then by 1879 at 157 Rockingham Street. Dobson employed six men in 1871. He died on 13 April 1888,....
