Thomas Dawson was born in Rotherham in about 1819. He was enumerated in the Census (1851) in Hunshelf, working as a table blade forger and living with his wife, Eliza. She died before the next Census, when Dawson was living in Monmouth Street. He was never listed in directories, but was described as a knife manufacturer in other sources. He died in Gloucester Square on 31 January 1863, aged 44, and was buried in Ecclesall. He left under £300. ....
