The founders of this company were Walter Bernard Long (1881-1954) and Harold James Long (1883-1952). They were born in Sheffield, the sons of Walter James Long (a retail draper) and his wife, Mary. The brothers became commercial travellers in clothing, but during the First World War launched a business as overall manufacturers at Academy Works, 2 Milk Street. By 1920, they operated from Hyde Park Works, St John’s Road. Perhaps cutlery was a brief side-line or used as an advertisement for their main business. Long Bros ....
