In 1841, W.T. Ashforth (1818-1873) was living in Clarence Street with his wife, Eliza Palmer. His parents were Britannia metal smith James (c.1797-1873) and Mary (c.1797-1827) Ashforth. In 1860, William advertised as a manufacturer of cast iron forks and table and palette knives in Spring Street (though he had moved to Carver Lane).
