J. & D. Brown
James and Daniel Brown were apparently brothers – the sons of Thomas Brown, a table blade forger, and his wife, Mary Ann. In 1871, they advertised as manufacturers of trade knives and table cutlery at Central Works, West Street. John Nicholson issued a public apology for defaming their business (Sheffield Independent, 14 May 1872). The Browns ended their partnership later in 1872 and soon went into individual liquidation.
