W. H. Parkin & Sons was launched in 1900 at 188 Rockingham Street. The firm supplied handles for the cutlery firms. The founder was William Henry Parkin (c.1852-1909), who was a bone, haft, and scale cutter, who lived at Gleadless Road, Heeley, with his wife Elizabeth Windle Rhodes (c.1855-1931).
