Joseph Godwin (1873-1948) was the son of William (a clogger) and wife, Mary Ann. In the Census (1891), he was living in Allen Street, with his widowed mother. Joseph was a table knife cutler. He married and later lived at John Street, when he was ‘table knife cutler … worker’ (Census 1911). In the Register Of England & Wales (1939), he was a table knife cutler, residing at 23 Steade Road.
