Charles Edwin Biggins was born 0n 5 November 1887 to father William, who was a table knife manufacturer, and mother Clara (nee Brownhill). They lived at 37 Prospect Road in Heeley.By 1901, Charles’ father had died and possibly due to their straitened financial situation because of his death, Charles (age 14) and his brother John (age 16) were both working as cutlers.
