William Loy & Company
This cutler was listed as a table knife manufacturer in Pond Lane in 1787, using a mark that included the letters ‘C’ and ‘W’. William Loy was then partnered by Thomas Bennett in Norfolk Street, but they dissolved their partnership in 1794. William continued to work in Norfolk Street, but died on 12 June 1808. He had lived in Highfield and was buried in Ecclesall churchyard, with the register noting that he was a ‘merchant’. His will was proved in October 1808 at £5....
